Goodbye to our missionary son

Last week we dropped off our youngest son at the curb of the MTC.  After two months of extensive Spanish study, he will serve in the Argentina, Buenos Aries North Mission.  As a missionary's mother, I am filled with mixed emotions.  I'm grateful that he has a very strong desire to serve and I am confident in his abilities.  I know he will learn a great deal... not only about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the people of Argentina, but he will also learn a great deal about himself.  I will miss him. In fact, I miss him already!
I pray for the missionaries throughout the world, especially in the McAllen, Texas mission.  My deepest prayers- probably only those that a mother can understand - are for my son as he leaves my care.  May he have the strength, power, and love of God with him always.  May all missionaries have the strength, power, and love of God with them always!

Doctrine and Covenants 75: 2-5, 10-11, 16- "Hearken, O ye who have given your names to go forth to proclaim my gospel, and to prune my vineyard. Behold, I say unto you that it is my will that you should go forth and not tarry, neither be idle but labor with your might-- Lifting up your voices as with the sound of a trump, proclaiming the truth according to the revelations and commandments which I have given you.  And thus, if ye are faithful ye shall be laden with many sheaves, and crowned with honor, and glory, and immortality, and eternal life...  Calling on the name of the Lord for the Comforter, which shall teach them all things that are expedient for them---praying always that they faint not; and inasmuch as they do this, I will be with them even unto the end. .. And he who is faithful shall overcome all things, and shall be lifted up at the last day."

  2. Hi, My name is Linda Brower. My son is Elder Parker Brower currently serving in the Texas McAllen mission. He is serving as an AP with Pres. Miller, so I am sure that you will get to know him very soon. I have to say that I am a bit envious that you will be working with my Elder. I hope that you will love him like I do and tell him a huge HELLO from his mom. Best wishes and hopefully we can keep in touch. Linda Brower
