The Tough Get Going

Another year has begun in the Texas McAllen Mission. Huge possibilities lie ahead of us. We have a positive outlook! We are setting new goals, and looking forward with faith. We are determined to conquer our fears and overcome our challenges. We will bless the lives of others by losing ourselves in the service of God.

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going"

Who are the "tough that get going?"  They are an army, composed of representatives of Jesus Christ who wear His name tag with honor. Though not perfect, they strive to live Christlike lives every hour of each day. They are of good cheer, diligent, and exactly obedient. The "tough that get going"  are among God's army of missionaries that are now encompassing the world, finding the elect. The "tough" are faith-filled young men and women who know that getting done what they have come to do isn't always easy, but that it can be done with God's help. They exercise their faith to know that giving ALL of their heart, might, mind and strength is worth it- because as they remain faithful, they know that they will stand blameless before Him in the last day. The "tough that get going" are humble and prayerful, knowing that they may call down the angels of heaven to bear them up and walk by their sides. They are in tune with the Spirit and act and increase in their own faith each day. Their faith is inspired by their love for their Heavenly Father and for their fellow man.

To these "tough" missionaries who "get going," a reward is promised
"...he that repenteth and exercises faith, and bringeth forth good works, and prayeth continually without ceasing - unto such it is given to know the mysteries of God; yea, unto such it shall be given to reveal things which never have been revealed; yea, and it shall be given unto such to bring thousands of souls to repentance..." (Alma 26:22)
Most importantly, the very "toughest of all"  will be forever grateful for their missionary service because it is in the mission field that they learn to become the person that their Heavenly Father knows they can become. "Just as vital as what you do... is who you are."  (Preach My Gospel, p. 115).
