POWER and AUTHORITY

With POWER and AUTHORITY they fly into the Texas McAllen International Airport, not yet fully aware of the great responsibility that will rest upon their shoulders. When they arrive, they already are set apart and have authority to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, given by an authorized priesthood bearer.  Then, as they live worthy and seek to learn, this authority leads to a wonderful spiritual power.  A spiritual power that is a gift just for them. For most of them, this power began to grow at the Missionary Training Center. Through time in the mission field, their power and authority will become more evident and will strengthen as they diligently work and teach.

By the time they fly out of the Texas McAllen International Airport, they understand and appreciate the authority and the spiritual power that they have been blessed with. They recognize  the Holy Ghost and his guidance; they express unfeigned love for the Lord, family, other missionaries, and the people they serve; their testimonies of Jesus Christ have grown; they enjoy the gifts of the spirit; they know that obedience leads to freedom; they have a greater understanding of the gospel, and their hearts are pure.
We learn about the power and authority of missionaries from the prophet, Alma. He was reunited with his friends, the sons of Mosiah, after many years of separation:
"...Alma did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord; yea, and they had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth; for they were men of a sound understanding and they had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God...But this is not all; they had given themselves to much prayer, and fasting; therefore, they had the spirit of prophesy, and the spirit of revelation, and when they taught, they taught with power and authority." (Alma 17:2-3)
So with power and authority they arrive... and with experienced POWER and AUTHORITY they return home... may the Lord bless and watch over them all...!
